rice, stuffballs (동그랑땡) and picked octopus (낙지젓)

rice, stuffballs (동그랑땡) and picked octopus (낙지젓)

It took me all my remaining energy to pry the jar of octopus open. Not that it was particularly stuck, but I was particularly enervated. But I was dedicated enough to finish The Long Goodbye while I ate. That’s four books already, if you count The Salmon of Doubt, which I doubt I would, but I had readings for class so it amounts to about that much. Philip Marlowe, I am wide open to receive you. Of course in my head he looks like Timothy Gibbs now and that just makes everything that much better. Mostly just funnier, but funnier is better. I’ve got to get more Raymond Chandler. But before that, I should finish the books I borrowed today, which is — a Jack London collection and A Tale of Two Cities. I never did finish Two Cities, or Oliver Twist for that matter. Or Little Dorrit. Or Nickleby. Or David Copperfield. Actually, Our Mutual Friend might be the only one that — no, that’s not true! I did finish Great Expectations. With great loathing. And A Christmas Carol, if that counts.

07. 03. BREAKFAST

stuffballs

동그랑땡: stuffballs

I-I don’t know! But if you make them out of meat and call them meatballs, then either these are meat-tofu-vegetableballs or stuffballs. And I opt for the latter because brevity is the soul of many, many things. Me not being one of them. But of course it is debatable whether I have a soul at all. Tuesdays and Thursdays are so bad for me, there’s never any time for breakfast and I’m back home only by two. Ridiculous! I can’t wait until classes are over, by the end of July. But then it will poignantly strike me that I only have a month left to go and that will depress me immensely. Decisions, decisions.

07. 02. DINNER

cold noodles

냉면: cold noodles

In our heart of hearts we knew that Hancock wouldn’t be that good a movie, but we went to watch it anyway. I don’t know what my brother was thinking, but I was only in it for Jason Bateman and Mr. F — I mean, Charlize Theron. It’s so hard to take her seriously. It’s adorable. Anyway, I was surprised because the movie was a lot better than I thought it would be; and then it completely screwed itself over and I cringed. Eventually it was every bit as bad as I thought it would be. Though I did enjoy Jason Bateman wielding a dangerous blunt object in a cascade of water. God knows I have no problem with a turn for the supernatural, but there was just something about the way they did it that didn’t fit at all with the movie as a whole. You can’t suddenly decide to switch genres in the middle of the movie. Jason Bateman is such a fox, though. Rrr. Anyway, this is what I had for dinner at the food court in the mall. I was planning on getting some sort of roll, but then I was passing this stand and I saw the picture and I couldn’t resist the pull. I love 냉면 with a burning fiery heat from my innards. In fact it’s kind of surprising that I haven’t had it since I got home. Well, as far as it goes, it wasn’t an excellent sort, but at least it had all the proper toppings.

a pretty amazing sandwich

a pretty amazing sandwich

The colors are oddly off in this picture, but eh. I don’t take the best pictures anyway. In fact I don’t even take better pictures, or just good pictures. Maybe what I should take is a photography class sometime. Except it’s not like drawing or painting, I feel like the bar is set way higher than that. So I’ll be too much of a coward to. But that’s that, and the sandwich is a sandwich is a sandwich. Holler!
