07. 07. DINNER

Dinner was ready when I got back. Ah, the small joys in life. Then Mom got back from Japan and the entire family was home together on a weekday! Miracle of miracles! Well, then half an hour later I had to leave to learn German, which turned out to be a bit of a disaster. But the good news is that the Funtime Partyland district is slightly less crowded at half past eight than whatever time I visited it when I was there to enroll. I could walk without hindrance to speed, at least. The weather is awful. There’s more moisture than air in your lungs and everything is sticky. All the books in my bag are turning wavy because of the dampness. I can’t wait until monsoon is over, this sort of rain does nothing to cool things down and I feel like the world is turning moldy. On the bright side, I have new sandals. They kind of look like nurses’ shoes, but consequently they go with everything and they are super comfortable. Score!

07. 07. LUNCH

cold noodles made with kudzu (칡냉면)

칡냉면: cold noodles made with kudzu

You’ve got to take Wiki’s word for it, because I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a “kudzu” before in my life. Anyway, that’s what it is. Also the picture is from this menu from this one restaurant, so I don’t think anybody has personal stake in it, and it’s difficult to credit so I won’t. Allow me to explain. This time, the lack of a picture taken by myself had a different motive from the one I usually provide: today, it was on purpose. I had the camera in my bag, just in case, but I was having lunch with a professor — I would have taken the picture if the moment wasn’t awkward, but it was, and so I decided not to. That’s all there is to it. If it had been a professor I knew better, or if there had been someone else there, perhaps. Also I’d had breakfast approximately two hours earlier, so I wasn’t exactly starving, and that’s probably why the food didn’t look amazing or anything. I mean, it tasted fine, but I’m sure it would have been better if I’d been in a state of hunger to enjoy it more. Then again in that situation I might have actually ordered something else.

07. 07. BREAKFAST

crackers with tuna salad

crackers with tuna salad

I need to get some more this weekend, I’m enjoying these greatly. I don’t actually have time for them on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, though, so they’ll be my treat on the other days. Of course if I had vegetables or something I could always make eggs, but honestly how often do you feel awake enough in the morning to handle a knife? Red Cliffs opened today. Unfortunately I had way too much stuff scheduled to go, but maybe tomorrow, or the day after. Traditional instrument battle!
